Icardi: "You have to win the derby"

MILAN - A goal in the 92nd minute ensured Nerazzurri delight in the #DerbyMilano on Sunday, with goalscorer Mauro Icardi since speaking to Sky Sport after the game: “You need to win the derby. We’ve been saying it to ourselves all week. We had to win. We created plenty of chances, we had a goal ruled out for offside and we hit the post. We deserved to win considering the chances we had and then if the win arrives like it did, at the death, then it’s even better.

“These three points make us aware that we must continue along this path. Before going away on international duty, I said that Inter needs to win. We had to win for everyone, for the fans who packed out the San Siro here tonight and then also for ourselves, for the team. We must get to used to winning regularly, gaining consistency in what we’re doing and obviously enjoying further success in the future.

“Our objective is to gain consistency, then at the end of the season, we’ll see what we’ve achieved. However, now we just need to keep getting results and doing well. We know our potential and we’re well aware that we’re a strong team that can compete against anyone. We must now continue from what we’ve done today.”
