MILAN – Sport can be a powerful tool for education and growth. We want to teach young people a "culture of sportsmanship" through an educational programme that seeks to prevent football violence and invites these young fans to learn the values of respect, loyalty and teamwork.
This is the core aim of the "SPORT IN THE CLASSROOM - POSITIVE SUPPORT" project, which is in its tenth edition this year. Inter developed the project, which focuses on the local area, in conjunction with the Milan city council and Comunità Nuova with the aim of addressing social issues linked to football, such as integration, social cohesion and tackling all forms of bullying.
Inter vs. Monza was watched by over 70,000 spectators at San Siro, 1,300 of whom were school pupils from the city and province of Milan, who were invited to attend the match as part of the project. The event was the culmination of a lot of hard work done throughout the last few months. Accompanied by parents and teachers, the children sought to convey positive messages of sportsmanship, bringing passionate and correct support with slogans and banners displaying the fan culture promoted by "SPORT IN THE CLASSROOM - POSITIVE SUPPORT", with respect, loyalty and teamwork at its core.
Before kick-off, some of the works completed by the project were displayed on the big screen at the stadium.
