There was frustration in Simone Inzaghi's words after Inter's 2-2 draw in Monza. In tonight's match, the Nerazzurri took the lead twice, only to be pegged back in the 93rd minute after an unlucky deflection. Following the game, the Inter Coach expressed his dismay at seeing Acerbi's 82nd-minute goal ruled out by the referee.
"We're angry: after five years of VAR, we had a goal ruled out that would have killed off the match. It's a big mistake that has cost us two points. The Monza players tripped over each other and ended up on the ground, and with that goal we would have won. There's real disappointment, but unfortunately that's football.
"After the wins over Atalanta and Napoli, this draw slows us down but won't stop us. We need to be stronger than what happened today. We should have defended our area better when that ball came in.
"We are Inter and need to always strive for the maximum. This draw interrupts an excellent run and was unexpected. Making calculations and looking at what others are doing won't bring us anything. We'll keep going, taking it one game at a time. "Lukaku missed three months of playing time; it isn't easy to come on in certain games. Both he and the other players who were at the World Cup need to put in the hard work. We don't have a lot of time but need to improve the fitness levels of all our players. We need everyone.
"Skriniar is very calm, and he's our captain when Samir doesn't play. Our Club is attentive and is working to bring positive news to the entire Inter world when it comes to Skriniar. I know how much he loves Inter."
