“This is an evening where a feel real joy. We’re celebrating our triumphant journey to the Scudetto and Second Star in synergy with cinema. Cinema has one big strength: it consolidates and safekeeps the emotions we experienced, and it celebrates the values and passion that led us to this triumph.
While Carlo A. Sigon is this film’s director, our director is Simone Inzaghi and the players are the main actors. For me, it’s moving to relive the season we spent together. The film is extraordinary and will remain in the memory of our fans. I’ll never forget the night we won the Scudetto on 22 April, and I’ll never forget the sea of Nerazzurri fans who invaded the city, with that incredible party at Piazza Duomo. It’s a demonstration of how football inspires people and brings them together, breaking down all barriers. That’s the beauty of the Nerazzurri colours.
The current campaign is the first season where our players are playing with two stars on their chests, representing our Club’s 20 glorious Scudetto triumphs. 20 victories that capture the work, sweat, sacrifice and joy found in 116 years of Nerazzurri history.
The path to the Second Star has distant roots and represents a victorious cycle that began all the way back in 1971, when captain Sandro Mazzola lifted our eleventh Scudetto trophy to the sky. Since then, there have been five Scudetto-winning presidents: Fraizzoli, Pellegrini, Facchetti, Moratti and, most recently, President Steven Zhang, who helped us achieve our last two league titles.
From 1971 to today, there have been seven coaches who have led Inter to the Serie A title: from Invernizzi and Bersellini through to Trapattoni, Mancini, Mourinho, Conte and Simone Inzaghi. We also thank the players, all 176 of them (ten are unfortunately no longer with us). They have contributed to the enrichening of our trophy cabinet and are great champions of the past, including our Vice President Javier Zanetti.
It’s a road that has led to today’s players currently sitting in this room. On 22 April, they beat AC Milan to secure a 20th Scudetto title for our beloved Inter.
Today it’s our turn to pick up the baton from the great champions of the past and carry the glorious history of the Club into the future, continuing to fight to defend our colours and make our fans, who have always stood by us, proud.”
