— Nov 13th 2022The thoughts of Edin, Federico Dimarco and André Onana after the 3-2 win away to Atalanta
On his 250th Serie A appearance, Edin Dzeko bagged a crucial brace to help Inter beat Atalanta on matchday 15. Dzeko has now scored 104 goals in the Italian top flight and moved ahead of Dybala, Miccoli, Mutu and Clerici into 79th place in the all-time ranking.
The Bosnian gave his thoughts after today's game, as did Federico Dimarco, who provided the assist for the second goal, and André Onana, who produced some excellent saves.
“We shouldn’t have allowed Atalanta to get back into it by conceding from a corner, but this is football; we also scored from a dead ball situation. Apart from the first 30 minutes, I think we did really well. My experience? The years tick by for everyone, but I’ll give everything for Inter for as long as I can. I work hard every day in training, and I’m happy when I can add something to the team. The winter break? When you’re feeling good, you want to continue playing. However, the break is arriving at the right time. It was important to win today and, from January, we’ll continue to give everything. Napoli? They’re doing really well, but we mustn’t think about them right now. As I said after Bologna, we should only focus on winning all our matches. Now, we’ll be able to rest a bit, and then we can look ahead to the game against Napoli, which will be our first fixture of the new year.”
Edin Dzeko
“We faced a really tough team today. Winning here isn’t easy for anyone, and these are three vital points. Something has changed; even if we fall behind, we bounce back even stronger. We have the ability to turn matches around even during the most difficult moments. The work we’ve done in the past few months is paying off: I’m getting a lot of playing time, but, as a team, we’ve raised the bar. For more than a month now, we’ve been going at a different pace with a different attitude. It’s difficult to take stock at this point, and we need to try to immediately start off well when we return to action against Napoli in January.”
Federico Dimarco
“We’ve finished the year in the best way possible, and it’s a very important win for us. We knew how difficult it’d be here. I’m happy because we fought hard and showed character and determination. I’m proud of this team. We always fight together; this is how you should do it. My long ball to Dimarco? For me, trying to pick out my teammates is easy because they’re really good. We’ve always played well, and I think that we deserved to win a few matches that we didn’t get three points from, but this is football. We displayed character and determination, and I think we’re now playing and digging in together. This is the most important thing. ”
