— Feb 5th 2023The thoughts of the Nerazzurri Coach after the derby victory
The derby is black and blue! The winning goal came from Lautaro Martinez, with Inter producing a display full of hunger and focus. This is what Coach Simone Inzaghi had to say after the game:
"We played really well. As the coach, seeing the team play like that is a pleasure. It was a great performance, and I congratulated the lads, who were determined and attentive. We've won two derbies in the space of 20 days. It wasn't easy and I'm happy. Now, we'll look ahead with confidence and try to get all our players back. We need to focus on ourselves. Let's not forget that we had a very demanding quarter-final against Atalanta on Tuesday.
"Our first-half display was close to perfection. In the second half, meanwhile, we were always in control. Now, we'll enjoy this win. We came into this game on the back of an excellent performance against Atalanta. Winning a derby in this manner is always very pleasing."
Lautaro: "He's performed at an exceptionally high level for twelve months now. His performance levels have been so consistent, despite the fact that he hasn't had much chance to rest. He deserves it, but everyone was excellent this evening, and it was a pleasure to watch them on the pitch. The only negative is that there was only one goal in it until the very end, but we expended a lot of energy on Tuesday.
"We could have been more precise with our finishing, but, as I said before, I congratulated the lads. It was our ninth game since 4 January and we were excellent. We've had a lot of absences, like those of Lukaku and Brozovic, but, in the past four months, we've progressed from our Champions League group and won the Supercoppa. We also have a Coppa Italia semi-final tie to play. We now need to continue in this manner, all the while aware that we've got a lot of games coming up. We need to push on in all competitions because we are Inter."
