Inter crush Hellas Verona 5 - 0

Inter dominated proceedings at the Bentegodi, sweeping aside Hellas Verona 5-0. This victory places the Nerazzurri top of the table, momentarily, with Inzaghi’s side sitting on 28 points after 13 games.

After an early scare when Tengstedt struck the crossbar, Inter ran riot, scoring five goals in the first half, with four scored between the 17th and 32nd minute. Joaquin Correa opened the scoring with a beautiful flick past the goalkeeper, following an assist from Thuram.

The pair linked up soon after, with the favour returned in the 22nd minute: Correa's perfectly-placed throughball found Thuram, who took it around the goalkeeper and slotted home to make it 2-0. Verona, defensively, couldn’t stand up to the away side’s onslaught and crumbled: in the 25th minute, Thuram went on another dribble, turning the ball home again for 3-0, following a Bastoni pass. And the game was sealed after 31 minutes, when De Vrij struck home on the turn after an Asllani assist. The scoring was done and dusted in the 41st minute by Bisseck who, in the area, fell to the floor yet managed to hook a right-footed shot into the top corner and make it 5-0.

Non ha difesa il Verona, davanti a un'Inter padrona del campo, con Asllani uomo ovunque, bravo anche a servire De Vrij per il 4-0: palla a rimorchio e girata da campione. Difficile per il Verona riprendersi, quando l'Inter ha il pallino del gioco la squadra di Paolo Zanetti fatica a chiudere, a rientrare. Non vince nemmeno i duelli, come quello ingaggiato da Bisseck in area: servito da Correa, Yann da terra trova una coordinazione fantastica e manda il pallone all'incrocio. Al 41' è 5-0, partita di fatto chiusa. Il secondo tempo vede il Verona cambiare in blocco: subito quattro cambi, mentre l'Inter inizia con Zielinski per Barella, per poi inserire Arnautovic, Frattesi e successivamente Buchanan. Cambia anche modulo in corsa, Inzaghi, che passa al 4-2-3-1 e sperimenta nuove giocate. Zielinski si vede negare il gol da Montipò, le folate nel finale di Buchanan propiziano un paio di ottime chanche. Ma il match si chiude sulla clamorosa traversa/incrocio dei pali di Correa, con un destro dalla distanza che meritava miglior sorte. La conclusione di un pomeriggio di sole e di Inter, che ora tornerà in campo martedì a San Siro per la sfida con il Lipsia.
