MILAN – It was an evening of recognition for Inter last night at the Gran Gala del Calcio AIC, the Italian PFA awards ceremony, relating to the 2021/22 season. Held at the Rho Fiero in Milan, in an evening of sport and spectacle in front of Italian football authorities, two Nerazzurri players were placed into the season's Top 11, Marcelo Brozovic and Nicolò Barella.
“I'm very happy to have received this award with two different teams, Cagliari and Inter, because it means that the work I'm doing is helping the team and my teammates, that's the most important thing. Brozovic? He's a really nice guy, he likes to have fun and is a calm and relaxing influence around the dressing-room, but he also works hard. We link up a lot and we created something special, we hope it continues to flourish and we can win again in the future.”

Flaminia Simonetti, midfielder for Rita Guarino's Inter Women side, on the back of a 4-0 win in the derby at the weekend, was also chosen in Serie A's Top 11.
“I'm very happy with this award because it means that I worked, and played, well last year. I have to thank my teammates and the Club who have provided everything I need to be able to perform at a high level. I tried my best to arrive here today on this stage, I'm very proud. ”

Before the event, Inter's CEO Giuseppe Marotta spoke to journalists about the squad's current form.
“We mustn't rest on our laurels despite getting a few good results these past few weeks, we need to keep improving. The players have been excellent in being honest and open with themselves in the dressing room, just as the Head Coach has, who has been able to keep the group united, providing them the right motivation to get back to the levels we saw last season.”
