Happy Birthday, Alvaro Recoba!

Head up, a glance at the goal, his left foot striking through the ball and then appearing in front of the stand to celebrate. If you say Alvaro Recoba, that is the image that immediately springs to mind for every Nerazzurri fan. Today he turns 47 years old and made 261 appearances in an Inter shirt, scoring 72 goals. With his class and unique style he won over the Nerazzurri fans right from the start, as early as his debut. It was 31 August 1997 and Brescia were ahead at San Siro. Alvaro came on and turned the match on its head with two of his trademark goals. A volley that went in off the crossbar and a masterful free-kick. But there were so many pearlers that came from his unstoppable left-foot. Some more examples; the goal from midfield scored against Empoli on 25 January 1998 or the left-footed shot from the edge of the box that completed the comeback on 9 January 2005 against Sampdoria. In the famous Inter shirt he won two Scudetto titles, two Coppa Italia titles, two Supercoppa Italiana titles and a UEFA Cup.
