MILAN – Lautaro struck a stunning volley to give Inter the perfect start against Atalanta with just five minutes on the clock, taking his tally to four in six Serie A appearances this season. It was a battle at San Siro in every sense of the word, as El Toro described to DAZN and Inter TV after the thrilling stalemate.
“Atalanta are a very physical side. We’ve faced them many times and we knew that heading into it. We showed our character by drawing a very tough match. We once again managed to display the battling qualities that we needed. We have to continue down this path. Based on how the game went, it’s probably a point gained, but we did want to win.
“We have to improve our consistency within games. We were in the lead at home and can’t let other teams back into games. As for penalties, [Federico] Dimarco, [Hakan] Calhanoglu and I all work on them in training.
“We now have a very tough away game coming up in the Champions League, but we have to play our game and bring home the three points.
“I don’t know if it was my best goal, but I still need to watch it back. Goals help me improve and boost my confidence. I want to keep fighting for this jersey.”
