TIRASPOL – What a time to score your first Champions League goal! With the game deadlocked at 0-0 Marcelo Brozovic's clever shimmy and tidy finish from the edge of the box set Inter on their way to a 3-1 victory over Sheriff Tiraspol.
The goal combined with his all-round display earned him another UEFA Man of the Match award – his third of the season after picking up the prize against Real and Sheriff at San Siro.
Speaking after the game, the Croat reflected on a job well done.
"It's all in our hands now. Winning was the only thing that mattered today. We played really well without leaving ourselves open on the counter. We're all happy with our performance.
“Winning Man of the Match doesn't really matter to me As I said, it's all about the team winning.”
All three goals came in the second half after the Nerazzurri had seen a host of chances come to nothing in the opening 45 minutes.
“The boss told us to stay patient, keep moving the ball around even more quickly and the goal would come.
“Now we have the derby to think about. That's another must-win game and we'll give 100% and more. We can't wait to play it.”
