An interview with the Nerazzurri defender: "We want to bring joy to the fans"

APPIANO GENTILE - This is the second season at Inter for Alessandro Bastoni, who has already become a key figure in Antonio Conte's side. In a week of preparation for a big away trip to Naples, the Nerazzurri defender spoke to Mediaset.

You're close to your objective... "We're definitely on a good run; eleven consecutive wins testify to that fact. We're getting closer and closer but we have to fight every Sunday until we've mathematically done it. We need to keep our concentrations, as we have always done and must continue to do. Our motto is 'head down and keep pedalling', this has been a theme of this period of growth and we want to continue in this manner."

Conte has always believed in you, he has shown a lot of faith in you. "When I arrived, I didn't think I'd be playing so regularly in such a good squad but the Coach has trusted me. I have always known that you have to take your chances as best you can and I have grown a lot, thanks to my teammates too."

You're part of a brilliant defence with Skriniar and de Vrij: what's your secret? "We compliment each other really well and our bond off the pitch is really good. We get on really well."

What type of game are you expecting against Napoli? "Every game is difficult and our hard-fought victories lately have shown that. Every team wants to do well against us. Napoli are fighting for Champions League football, so it will be a great game."

The Euros are coming up... "My aim is to go to the Euros and do well with Italy. I have a few more games left to convince Mancini, and I hope to do so. I'm doing well here and my dream is to win with Inter. We hope to bring the fans joy in these tough times."

Would the title be a good prize after such a difficult season? "The last two seasons have been strange due to the pandemic. Bringing joy to ourselves and to the fans is our main aim."
