Statistics and interesting facts from the Nerazzurri win over Juventus

MILAN - Arturo Vidal and Nicolò Barella will be remembered as the scorers in Inter's 2-0 victory over Juventus, but the entire Nerazzurri squad played their part: a true team effort that allowed Antonio Conte's men to control the match with confidence and character from start to finish.

SIXTH CONSECUTIVE HOME WIN AND THAT’S NOT ALL… Against Juventus, Inter racked up their sixth consecutive home win. A victory that also breaks up the Nerazzurri’s run of games without a victory over the Bianconeri: our last success had previously come in September 2016 (2-1 at San Siro). Not since April 2010, however, had Inter beaten Juventus 2-0 (again at San Siro, with goals by Maicon and Samuel Eto’o).

This victory is also Antonio Conte’s first win against Juventus as a manager.

VIDAL SCORES AGAINST HIS FORMER CLUB: BUT HE IS NOT THE FIRST Arturo Vidal began his scoring streak with Inter in the Coppa Italia against Fiorentina and immediately followed it up by scoring the opening goal against Juventus to make it 1-0. First of all, this is Vidal's first goal in Serie A since May 2015. Of the 36 goals scored by the Chilean in the Italian top flight, only two have come from headers: his very last goal for Juventus and his first with Inter, against the Bianconeri.

Vidal scored against his former side yesterday: before him, the last former Bianocneri player to score for Inter against Juventus in Serie A was Christian Vieri in 2004.

The Chilean has become just the eighth player to score for both sides in Inter vs. Juventus. The list of players to score in the Derby d’Italia in both jerseys is as follows: Giuseppe Meazza, Pietro Serantoni, Giovanni Ferrari, Sergio Gori, Pietro Fanna, Roberto Boninsegna, Aldo Serena and Arturo Vidal.

A GOAL AND ASSIST FOR BARELLA A match to remember for Nicolò Barella, who put in a superb performance in which he provided an assist for Inter's first goal and scored to make it 2-0. The Nerazzurri midfielder has brought his assist tally up to five this season, surpassing his total of four from last year. He also now has two goals this season, while he finished last season with just one. Five goals in 65 official matches with four of those coming at San Siro, all in the same goal underneath the Curva Nord.

Barella is the only central midfielder born after 1/1/1997 that can boast at having scored at least ten goals in Serie A.

BASTONI’S LONG BALL FORWARD: 61.3 METRES

The man to set up Barella for the Nerazzurri's second was Alessandro Bastoni: his long ball forward sliced open the Juventus defence, sending his teammate through on goal. His precise pass travelled a total of 61.3 metres. Bastoni is the youngest central defender with at least two assists in one of the top five European leagues in 2020/21.
