REGGIO EMILIA – Matteo Darmian enjoyed a solid performance, proving impeccable in defence and fundamental going forward. He registered his first assist in an Inter shirt as he passed the ball to Gagliardini, who added a brilliant finish. He most definitely left his mark on the 3-0 win against Sassuolo. He voiced his thoughts after the game to Inter TV: "Today's performance was excellent. After the defeat in the Champions League we wanted to redeem ourselves and this was the best way we could’ve done it.
"We knew we were going up against a team in good form that is strong and has a lot of top quality players. We knew what we had to do when we arrived. We did it, and we deserved the win. I’m happy to have registered an assist too: it’s always brilliant to help out."
Throughout the course of the match Darmian successfully thwarted Boga, a difficult opponent to face one on one: "I knew he would be a tough and strong opponent, but we managed to limit what he could do. As a team, we limited all their attacking players. Overall, the performance was very good."
Looking ahead to the clash in the Champions League: "We need to keep the same ruthlessness and determination. It’ll be difficult since they’re a tough opponent, as we saw previously at San Siro. Every match in the Champions League is difficult. We’re going there to win because we want to do everything we can to find a way out of the group. We’ll keep trying until our exit is mathematically confirmed."
