MILAN – The defeat in the Champions League against Real Madrid is not the end of the road for Inter. They are still in the game. Moreover, a few Nerazzurri players made important statistical achievements, in particular Lautaro, Barella and Perisic. This match also saw Real Madrid stalwart Sergio Ramos score his 100th goal for Los Blancos.
BARELLA, 50 APPEARANCES FOR INTER
Barella made his 50th appearance in the Nerazzurri shirt in the game against Real Madrid. It was a dazzling performance, marked largely by his remarkable assist for Lautaro Martinez. Barella, who has been at Inter since 2019, has scored four goals and provided twelve assists with the Club so far. The appearances for the Nerazzurri number 23 are laid out as follows: 33 in Serie A, seven in Champions League, six in Europa League and four in Coppa Italia.
LAUTARO, FROM BARCELONA TO REAL MADRID
Scoring goals against the giants of Europe seems to have become a bit of a habit for Lautaro Martinez. Last year, the Argentine scored at Camp Nou against Barcelona. This time, in Valdebebas, the Nerazzurri number 10 got on the scoresheet against Real Madrid. Lautaro, (1997) is the only player born after 1/1/1996 to have scored in the Champions League against the two Spanish giants. Furthermore, he is only the third South American player in history to have scored in the Champions League in away at both Real Madrid and Barcelona - after Alexandre Pato and Mário Jardel.
In the history of clashes against Real Madrid, Lautaro Martinez is the first player in an Italian team to have both scored and registered an assist in a Champions League fixture against the Spanish giants since Juventus’ Mauri in October 2008.
For Lautaro, this was his sixth goal in the Champions League, his fifth away from home (last season at San Siro he scored against Borussia Dortmund). Over the last two seasons the Argentine has been the third best away goal scorer in the Champions League: Only Robert Lewandowski (ten goals) and Serge Gnabry (six) have performed better than him.
PERISIC IN THE CHAMPIONS LEAGUE, HAS NOW SCORED IN THREE DIFFERENT SHIRTS
On Saturday against Parma, Ivan Perisic found the back of the net with Inter. Since then, the Croatian scored his first goal away from home in the Champions League. Above all, it was his first ever Champions League goal with the Nerazzurri. Perisic has therefore scored in the most prestigious and elite European competition in three different shirts: Borussia Dortmund, Bayern Munich and Inter.
