Carbone: “The ‘90s were a unique era for Italian football, there were some great players, players with so much class who made the difference. I arrived at Inter at the same time as some other great champions: Paul Ince, Roberto Carlos, Zanetti. It was a team under construction and for me it was a dream come true, Inter were the team of my heart and both Beccalossi and Bergkamp had worn that No.10 shirt, so it was a great honour for me.”
Fresi: “I was lucky to play with some great champions, there were some truly complete teams in those years. I played in midfield and defence at Inter, I scored a wonderful goal in Rome, my first in Serie A, but not many remember it because Djorkaeff scored that legendary bicycle kick that game. Roberto Carlos was too strong from free kicks, we knew it and we’d hand him the ball right away.”
So many memories of their teammates and of a dressing room filled with great champions:
Carbone: “We had a unique and fun dressing room, which was important because it meant we were like a family. When Zanetti arrived we shared a room together for a year, you could already tell he was an exemplary professional both on and off the pitch.”
Fresi: “The final against Lazio was unforgettable for me, it was my first trophy for Inter, and we were all just perfect in that game. I also remember all the away games that preceded it, it was an incredible run.”
