The inaugural award was named in memory of Atalanta’s historical sporting director and was assigned to the best Youth Sector Director according to the opinion of those holding the same position at other clubs.
“I’m really pleased that we’re talking about young players at such a prestigious event, it’s something that will help give a boost to the entire movement,” were the Nerazzurri Youth Sector Director’s words upon receiving the award. “That’s why we have to congratulate Demetrio Albertini for the attention given to academies. I’d also like to thank my colleagues for their votes, it’s an honour to receive this award in memory of a person who was a role model to so many.”
He then said the following in a press conference: “I’d like to thank Inter for making this all possible. The Club has always given a great amount of attention to the Academy over the years. This is my thirtieth year in Nerazzurri colours and it’s a great honour to do this job every day.”
