Genoa vs. Inter: Stats and trivia

MILAN - Following Sunday’s win over Bologna at San Siro, Inter’s next league match will now be away against Genoa at the Stadio Ferraris on Saturday evening. In collaboration with Opta, here are all the stats that you need to know ahead of the game.

There have been a total of 101 previous matches between Genoa and Inter in  Serie A, with the Nerazzurri having the edge with 51 victories in comparison to the Ligurian’s 21. There have also been 29 draws. However, from the 50 previous matches played in Genoa, the home side does have a better record with 17 wins to Inter’s 14. Meanwhile, 19 of these matches at the Marassi have ended as a draw. 

So far this season, the Nerazzurri have struck the woodwork on 15 occasions, while apart from penalties, Inter have only conceded one goal from set pieces. This is fewer than anyone else in the league so far. 

Éder has scored in each of his last two league matches, although he has not scored in three successive games since the end of last season. Three of Eder’s 11 Serie A goals were scored against Genoa, however, none of these came in his last four outings. 

As for Marcelo Brozovic, he scored the first of his two braces in Serie A against Genoa, coming in December 2016 at San Siro. Brozovic is also just one game away from making his 100th Nerazzurri appearance in all competitions. 

Antonio Candreva’s next Serie A appearance will be No. 300, while Danilo D'Ambrosio could also be set to play his 150th match in the top Italian tier.  With 63, Candreva has created the most chances for his teammates this season - eight of which have been winning assists.D’Ambrosio’s last goal in Serie A was scored against Genoa in this season’s earlier encounter, proving decisive in the 87th minute. 

As a coach, Luciano Spalletti has won seven out of his nine matches against Genoa in Serie A, losing the other two.
