Inter Club helps build kindergarten in Tanzania

BRUGHERIO – Inter Club Brugherio has recently completed a two-year charity effort to build a kindergarten in Tanzania.

To realise the project, the Lombardy-based Inter Club teamed up once again with Dada Maisha, a non-profit association operating in the African country, with whom they previously collaborated on the construction of a well.

"We have an idea, a very ambitious one, but if we all pool our efforts we might be able to do it,” said Anna Coppola, an Inter Club Brugherio board member and president of Dada Maisha at a meeting towards the end of 2014. “There's this village up in the mountains, cut off from all other settlements. The nature is stunning but they have absolutely nothing. For a while now we've had this idea to build a playschool there for the beautiful children of the village.”

Since that day the Inter Club Brugherio board of directors and Dada Maisha have worked enthusiastically together on the project.

Two special evenings were organised to raise funds, involving comedians and Nerazzurri figures, as well as members of the town council and local citizens.

The big day finally came on 2 January: that was the moment when two years of hard work came to fruition. The ribbon was cut and Dada Maisha Inter Club Brugherio kindergarten opened its doors to all the children in the village of Kiroka.

"I want to thank the people of Brugherio for their generous contributions and the board for all their help and time,” said Giovanni Libutti, president of the Inter Club. “Our aim has always been to combine our passion for the game with charity work and that's exactly what we've been able to do with Dada Maisha.”
