Stramaccioni and Petkovic cross paths for first time

Vladimir Petkovic and Andrea Stramaccioni have never faced off as coaches in a competitive fixture before.

Serbian coach's first meeting with Nerazzurri

Vladimir Petkovic has never taken on Inter as a coach.

Stramaccioni undone in only previous game against Lazio

This is Andrea Stramaccioni's second competitive game against Lazio as a coach. On the first occasion, at the Stadio Olimpico on 13 May 2012, the hosts ran out as 3-1 winners.

Mazzoleni's record against Lazio and Inter

Referee Paolo Silvio Mazzoleni has officiated Lazio 13 times before today and Inter 6 times. The Biancocelesti's record with tonight's match official is W7, D4, L2 while the Nerazzurri's is W4, D2, L0.

One home defeat in 17 for Lazio

Lazio have lost just once in their last 17 home fixtures - that was on 23 September when Genoa came away from the Olimpico with the points following a 0-1 win. In the other 16 games in that period, Lazio have clocked up 12 wins and 4 draws.

No draws in Rome or Milan since 2008

The last time these two sides shared the spoils was on 16 April 2008, a Coppa Italia tie in Milan that ended goalless. In the 10 encounters since then, there have been 3 wins for Lazio and 7 for Inter.

Nerazzurri fair play

Inter have collected fewer cautions in the current Serie A campaign than any other team - just 30 yellow cards in 16 matches.

Inter's last away draw in Serie A back in April

Inter have not drawn a match on their travels in Serie A since 22 April, when they were held to a 0-0 stalemate by Fiorentina. The Nerazzurri's record since then stands at 7 victories and 4 defeats. Inter are one of four clubs who are yet to draw an away game in Serie A 2012/13, the other three being Bologna, Chievo Verona and Roma.

ROME - Klose pounced late on to bag the points for the hosts but Inter were unlucky to leave the Stadio Olimpico empty-handed after forging a glut of second-half chances.

The first half was a tight affair with the two teams cancelling each other out and opportunities few and far between. Inter came into the game after the interval but fortune wasn't on their side: Guarin struck the foot of the post after 67 minutes and four minutes later Cassano rattled the same patch of woodwork, Nagatomo's follow-up from the rebound then turned behind by Marchetti's smart reflexes. The winning goal was scored by Klose eight minutes from time. Having wasted a gilt-edged opportunity he showed what a lethal finisher he is at the second time of asking: Mauri picked out his run and the German clipped a first-time effort past Handanovic. However, a minute before the goal, the referee awarded a dubious free kick to Lazio for a foul by Milito on Biava as Inter were on the attack with a man over. In added time Ranocchia was held back and then tugged to the ground inside the box by Ciani. Incredibly Mazzoleni chose not to award a spot kick, a decision which had the Nerazzurri bench understandably in uproar: it was a clear penalty.
