Pioli beaten on his only previous meeting

As a manager, Pioli has faced Inter on only one previous occasion: Parma 1-2 Inter (Serie A) on 12 November 2006

Benitez' first time against Chievo

This will be Benitez' first official match against ChievoVerona.

November: a bad month for Pioli

November is the month in which Stefano Pioli's teams (professional league games only) have obtained the lowest points average per game: 0.93, coming from 6 wins, 12 draws and 14 defeats in 32 games. Pioli's record for June is actually worse, but not many league games are played in that month.

Chievo's barren spell of 370 mins

Chievo's last goal in competitive games was on 28th October - a 2-0 victory over Sassuolo in Coppa Italia. The second goal was scored by Moscardelli in the 80th minute. Since then they have drawn nothing but blanks: the remaining 10 minutes of that game and league matches against Parma (0-0 away), Fiorentina (a 0-1 home defeat), Bari (0-0 at home) and Sampdoria (0-0 away) add up to 370 goalless minutes.

Chievo's defence unbreached in 190 minutes (all games); 225 minutes at home

The last goal conceded in an official match by ChievoVerona was on 7th November, when they went down 1-0 away to Fiorentina. Cerci netted the winner in the 80th minute. Since then - the remaining 10 minutes of that game and the goalless draws against Bari (home) and Sampdoria (away) - their defence has remained unbreached. The last time Chievo conceded in official competition at home was on 24th October during their 2-1 win over Cesena, when the visitors' goal was actually a Guana own goal after 45 minutes. The Chievo defence has since gone 225 minutes without conceding at home: the remaining 45 minutes in that match and the clean sheets against Sassuolo (2-0 at home in the Coppa Italia) and Bari (0-0 in Serie A).

200 games in Italy for Bogliacino

Should Mariano Bogliacino play, he will celebrate his 200th appearance as a professional in Italy. His 199 appearances to date - picked up while wearing the colours of Sambenedettese, Napoli and ChievoVerona - are divided as follows: 79 in Serie A, 37 in Serie B, 63 in Serie C-1, 14 in Coppa Italia, 2 in European games and 4 in other competitions. Bogliacino's official debut in Italy came on 19th Settember 2004: Foggia-Sambenedettese (0-1, in Serie C-1).

Inter have failed to score against Chievo only once in 16 games

Only once in 16 official matches (home and away) have Inter failed to score against Chievo: a 0-0 Serie A draw in Milan on 14th March 2004. In the other 15 games, the Nerazzurri have scored a total of 30 goals.

Eto'o's goals worth 11 points

Samuel Eto'o is one of the two most decisive players in Serie A in 2010-11, along with Bologna striker Di Vaio. The Cameroonian forward's goals have racked up 11 points for the Nerazzurri cause.

One defeat in the last 9 away games for Inter

Inter have come back empty-handed only once in their last 9 away trips in Serie A: a 0-1 defeat to Roma on 25th September. The other 8 games in that period have yielded 5 wins and 3 draws.

VERONA - At the "Marc'Antonio Bentegodi" stadium in Verona, the Round 13 game between Chievo and Inter (Tim Serie A 2010-11 season) finishes 2-1 to the hosts.

Pandev hit the post (13 mins) before Pellissier opened the scoring after 29 minutes of play, heading home Frey's cross. The Nerazzurri came close to equalising several times in the second half: Stankovic's lob on 64 mins and Eto'o's effort - after being set up by Pandev - were both blocked by Sorrentino. In fact, Inter were unlucky to come up against the Chievo keeper in such good form. They fell further behind after 82 mins when Moscardelli scored, then managed to pull one back through Eto'o (92 mins) but were unable to complete the comeback and thus suffered their second away defeat of the season.

FIRST HALF - Inter had 11 players unavailable but were able to recall Cambiasso, who started in front of the back four alongside Stankovic. With Chivu out, the back line was reshuffled once more: protecting Castellazzi were Santon (right) and Zanetti (left) flanking Lucio and Cordoba. Pellissier returned to partner Thereau up front for Chievo.
Chievo began pressing Inter from the off and had the first chance when Thereau shot from distance after 5 mins, forcing Castellazzi to parry around the post. Inter hit back on 7 mins when Pandev played Eto'o through, the Cameroonian dribbling past Cesar before shooting high over the bar. On 13 mins Pandev struck the post: set up by a lovely ball from Eto'o, the Macedonian went round Sorrentino but couldn't quite find the right angle. Poor control from Frey on 17 mins allowed Zanetti to break on the right but the ball ran too far ahead of him and went out for a goal-kick. Rigoni then brought down Eto'o right on the edge of the box (20 mins). Sneijder struck the freekick powerfully but too centrally and Sorrentino was able to deal with it. A good piece of individual work from Santon came on 22 mins: after winning the ball and moving forward, his shot was once again kept out by the Chievo keeper. Then, after a neat one-two with Sneijder, Eto'o put Pandev through on goal but his shot was way off target. Chievo took the lead on 29 mins: Frey's inch-perfect cross from the right was headed home by Pellissier. Shortly after (36 mins), Thereau's shot finished high, while Zanetti had to clear (44 mins) after Marcolini had set up Mantovani. Just before the half-time whistle, Lucio did enough to put off Pellissier as the striker was about to shoot with just Castellazzi to beat and the ball went wide. The first half finished 1-0.

SECOND HALF - There were no changes at half time. Two minutes after the restart, Santon fired at Castellazzi's right-hand post and the keeper had to put it behind. From the resulting corner, Stankovic headed over. Rigoni went close to making it 2-0 after 53 mins, hitting goalwards from a corner but Stankovic was well positioned to hack it off the line. Benitez made his first change after 55 mins, Nwankwo coming on for Cambiasso. A delightful pass from Sneijder on 64 mins gave Stankovic a great chance to equalise, but his delicate lob was just touched wide by Sorrentino. Chievo soon had another chance: Pellissier to Constant, who struck a sweet volley from outside the box that Castellazzi was able to parry. Fernandes latched onto the rebound but scuffed his shot wide. The chance seemed to shock Inter into action, as the Nerazzurri quickly improved: on 67 mins Pandev set up Eto'o, who poked the ball goalwards but Sorrentino was once again a match for it and pushed behind for another corner. Biabiany was replaced by Alibec after 76 mins, and it was the Inter youngster who created another chance for Eto'o 5 minutes after coming on.  However, Inter's fate was sealed right after that when Rigoni's low cross was dummied (missed?) by Thereau and Moscardelli was able to fire home from close range to make it 2-0.  On 90 mins Thereau tried to score from an almost impossible position, before Eto'o finally got an Inter goal on the board, and it was all of his own making: starting on the left he skipped past three players and then slotted past Sorrentino from inside the area. Rocchi blew the final whistle after three minutes of added time to confirm Inter's second away defeat of the season. The Nerazzurri thus remain on 20 points.
