Yashin Trophy 2024: Yann Sommer among the nominated goalkeepers

An unforgettable first season in Nerazzurri: Yann Sommer, who joined Inter in the summer of 2023, has been one of the key players in Simone Inzaghi's team’s march towards their 20th Scudetto and the Second Star. It was an unforgettable season in which Sommer kept 19 clean sheets, no foreign goalkeeper has done better in a single Serie A season since the introduction of three points per victory (also achieved by Sebastian Frey in 2006/07 with Fiorentina). Since the 1994/95 season, Yann has also become the Inter goalkeeper with the most clean sheets in a single championship.

These numbers only partially reflect Yann Sommer’s extraordinary season, which also saw the Swiss goalkeeper win the Supercoppa Italiana and reach the quarter-finals of Euro 2024 with his national team. His outstanding performances have earned him a place among the nominees for the 2024 Yashin Trophy, awarded by France Football to the best goalkeeper of the season.

Sommer is one of the 10 goalkeepers nominated for the trophy, which will be presented during the Ballon d'Or award ceremony on 28 October 2024, in Paris.
