— Nov 17th 2023A disappointing night for three of the Nerazzurri players away on international duty: defeats for Argentina and Brazil, a draw for Chile
It wasn't the best of nights for the Nerazzurri players involved in South American qualifying for the World Cup: Argentina and Brazil fell to defeat, while Chile played out a draw.
The Argentinians suffered their first loss since their World Cup triumph: at La Bombonera in Buenos Aires, La Albiceleste were beaten 2-0 by Uruguay (Araujo, Nunez). Lautaro Martinez, who started on the bench, played the entire second half and came close to grabbing an equaliser.
Alexis Sanchez, meanwhile, was involved for the full 90 minutes as Chile drew 0-0 with Paraguay. With La Roja on five points, Eduardo Berizzo resigned as Head Coach after the game.
Finally, Carlos Augusto's Brazil suffered a 2-1 defeat to Colombia despite taking an early lead. The Nerazzurri man didn't feature.
This is the current table, with Brazil set to face Argentina next: Argentina 12, Uruguay 10, Colombia 9, Venezuela 8, Brazil 7, Ecuador 5, Paraguay 5, Chile 5, Bolivia 3, Peru 1.
