September ended with the 4-0 victory over Salernitana. It has been a positive start to the season for Inter, with 6 victories in the league from 7 games played, leaving Inter top of the table with 18 points. The Champions League opener, however, resulted in a 1-1 draw in the match in San Sebastian against Real Sociedad.

There have been many Nerazzurri stars in this opening stage of the season, and just as many achievements. It is therefore now the moment to vote for the LeoVegas.News Player of the Month for August and September and choose the Interista that has stood out the most. 

The four nominees are Lautaro Martinez, Marcus Thuram, Hakan Calhanoglu and Federico Dimarco.

LAUTARO MARTINEZ

It has been an extremely productive start to the season for Lautaro Martinez, who has scored 10 goals as of now and provided excellent performances. One of which was definitely his effort in Inter vs Monza, in which he was voted man of the match thanks to his brace. He also netted in the 1-1 draw in the match in San Sebastian against Real Sociedad in the Champions League opener. Il Toro concluded the month by breaking a record against Salernitana: it was the first time a substitute has scored 4 goals in Serie A history. 

MARCUS THURAM

Extraordinary impact from Marcus Thuram. In his first 7 league appearances in Italy, he contributed to 6 goals: 2 goals and 4 assists for the French attacker. The Interista number 9 was voted man of the match by Nerazzurri fans in matches against both Fiorentina and Cagliari. 

HAKAN CALHANOGLU

Hakan Calhanoglu’s start to the season has been characterised by important performances and topped off by two goals: two perfect penalties, scored in the home victories over Fiorentina and Milan. The Turkish midfielder also celebrated his 100th appearance in the Inter shirt during this period. Nerazzurri supporters voted him as man of the match in the impressive 5-1 derby win over Milan. 

FEDERICO DIMARCO

A crazy goal and a dazzling start to the season from Federico Dimarco. The goal scored against Empoli was a masterpiece. Thanks to his winning goal, the number 32 was voted man of the match by the Nerazzurri support. The full-back is becoming an increasingly useful offensive weapon for Simone Inzaghi. Dimarco is the third most prolific defender in the last four Serie A seasons, with 12 goals scored and has also contributed to the most goals from defence in Europe’s top five leagues with 4, 1 goal and 3 assists.
