The Slovenian goalkeeper has drawn level with Cordoba in tenth in Inter's all-time appearance ranking

In taking to the pitch against Torino, Samir Handanovic drew level with Ivan Ramiro Cordoba (455) in tenth place in Inter's all-time appearance ranking across all competitions. A historic and prestigious milestone for the Slovenian shot-stopper, who sits second in terms of number of appearances made by foreign-born players in Serie A history; only Javier Zanetti (615 matches, all of which were with Inter) is ahead of him in this particular list. This is what the goalkeeper had to say after Inter's victory in their final league match of the campaign:

“I’m happy that this Club has returned to where it deserves to be. I’m also happy that I’m now in the Top 10 in terms of appearances. It doesn’t happen often and means I’ve come a long way. We’re feeling good; we wanted to finish well and display quality on the pitch, and this is what we managed to do. We controlled the game throughout and deservedly won. The match that awaits is the toughest test for any player. We need to produce our best performance of the season and our lives. We’re doing well and are ready. It’ll also be difficult for them because we’ll give everything. Cordaz? He’s always done a lot and been a positive figure for everyone, and I’m happy he got a chance to play.”

Robin Gosens was also very satisfied after the win against the Granata and with the Champions League final in mind:

“This win gives us more confidence heading to Istanbul. We had to dig in in the last 20 minutes, but this will also be the case next week. It was a great victory. With the journey I’ve been on in my career, everything I’m experiencing now is a dream, and this applies to the final we’ll play in. I remember playing with my friends ten years ago and watching matches like the one coming up together. Now, I’m going to be involved in it; it’s just incredible. We’ll head out there with plenty of confidence and go for it, displaying our qualities in the process. In order to have a chance to play a game like this one, there needs to be a great group. We’re proud to have reached this point and deserve it. We’ll take to the pitch with all our strengths and with the aim of displaying our qualities. I fought hard to arrive here and earn the chance to be in the starting line-up. I’m now playing much more and happy when I can display my qualities.”
