— Feb 21st 2024For the first time under Simone Inzaghi, the Nerazzurri have now won nine consecutive matches in all competitions: this and more
Simone Inzaghi's side emerged victorious from their round of 16 first leg against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League, with Marko Arnautovic bagging the decisive goal. The return fixture will take place at 21:00 CET on Wednesday 13 March in Madrid.
NINE CONSECUTIVE WINS
In getting the better of Simeone's side, Inter extended their winning run since the start of 2024: the Nerazzurri have won nine consecutive matches in all competitions for the first time under Simone Inzaghi.
CLEAN SHEETS
Inter kept yet another clean sheet yesterday evening, making it 21 for the season: the Nerazzurri are the team that have recorded the most shutouts across the top five European divisions in 2023/24. Inter didn't allow their opponents to have a shot on target; the last time this happened in the Champions League was on 22 November 2006, when they faced Sporting Lisbon.
SEVEN UNBEATEN
Inter (W4, D3 in 2023/24) haven't lost any of their first seven matches of a single Champions League campaign for the second time in history (after 2004/05). The Nerazzurri also handed Atletico their first defeat in this year's competition.
3X2
Following his goal in the round of 16 first leg, Marko Arnautovic has drawn level with Lautaro Martinez and Alexis Sanchez in terms of number of goals scored in the Champions League this season (two). Against Atletico, the Austrian netted for the second time in a Champions League home match after bagging for Werder Bremen against Inter on 7 December 2010 (4823 days between the two games).
