Henrikh Mkhitaryan accompanied Simone Inzaghi in the press conference on the eve of Inter vs. Atalanta in the Supercoppa Italiana semi-final on Thursday 2 January 2025 in Riyadh. Ahead of the game against the Orobici, the Nerazzurri midfielder answered questions from journalists.
What difficulties arise when playing a midfield like at Atalanta? “Obviously, tomorrow’s game will be key, we know that Atalanta are playing very well. We will try to play at our best, it’s important for us to keep winning. We will do our best”.
In the league, Inter beat Atalanta 4-0: what has changed since that game: “We are two different sides. They had won many games on the bounce and we were still looking to get into the swing. We have been playing with a lot of skill in the last few weeks but we know that a difficult game awaits”.
There has been a lot of talk about Frattesi’s desire to play, what advice would you give him? “He is a good player and a good person. I can only advise him to keep working like he is doing, he has the skill to play for Inter without a doubt. His work in the week is always great and he is on the right path, he will have his chance to play. Clearly, the Coach chooses the side but he deserves to play and I think he will be very important for Inter in the future”.
Do you all feel at home in Riyadh? “It’s the third time that we are here, we lifted the trophy in the last two finals and we’re hoping to also win this Supercoppa. Without a doubt, we are aware that Atalanta are very strong, but we hope that our fans will help us out to win”.
At the start of the season, you said you were not on top form: how do you feel now? “At the start of the season, I wasn’t at my best but now I’m back up to scratch. Frattesi and Zielinski helped a lot, they push me to improve. Everyone wants to play but we are here to give it our all and win. Everyone that starts the game will get involved as will everyone who comes off the bench”.
