“This isn’t a step backwards; we wanted to win but have earned a point. We have a single objective: to win. Every Scudetto title is won by overcoming difficulties. In Italy, there is a lot of emphasis on tactics, and there are good teams and very strong players. I’m hoping to win my first league title across the major European divisions.
We could have done better and killed off the game earlier, but it was a match where we didn’t find the spaces we needed, and credit should go to Cagliari for this. They defended well and hit us on the counter. Their pace wasn’t a problem; we wanted to win and were attacking with a lot of players, but then we failed to close the spaces. We should have been calmer and more attentive and focused: if we’d put the game to bed earlier, we wouldn’t be having this discussion now. We don’t do any counting and never put the brakes on. We won’t let our heads drop and need to win our upcoming matches so we can finish the season having completed our objective.
I feel great and want to play every match. I feel sorry for my teammates because they deserve more playing time, but the Coach makes the decisions. I do my best to play, and I’m always ready when we have one match per week. I’m taking good care of myself; I eat and sleep well. The staff and fans really help me, and I give it everything; this is how we can keep on achieving more and more together. Against AC Milan, we’ll need to do our best to win and achieve what we’ve set out to do. We’d like to thank our supporters: we’re moving forward together, and everyone deserves credit for this. If we win, we do it together as Interisti.”
