Inter landed in Riyadh on Tuesday evening and the welcome in Saudi Arabia has been, as it always is, very warm. The Nerazzurri play their semi-final against Lazio at Al-Awwal Park on Friday. The first event involving our local fanbase was a meet and greet with Kristjan Asllani, Davide Frattesi and Davy Klaasen, who spent time with members of Inter Club KSA. Club Manager Riccardo Ferri also attended the event.
It was a special morning for the over 40 members, who met the players and encouraged them ahead of their impending big match. Inter Club KSA, founded in 2014, now has 270 members. The largest portion of these resides in Riyadh where coordinator Ahmed Alattas brings together the most passionate fans, including Italian Interisti who live in Saudi Arabia. In recent days, Saudi Arabian Inter fans have been flocking to Riyadh from all over the country, mostly from Jeddah.
Memories of last year's triumph are still alive and the excitement is building for this new Nerazzurri adventure in Riyadh. The fans are showing as much with their passion on show and desire for photos and autographs. There was also a player from 1990/91: their excitement to see Club great Riccardo Ferri was clear to see. There is a long-time and deep-rooted passion for Inter in the country.
For Inter Club KSA, it's becoming a bit of a habit to welcome Simone Inzaghi's men and support them from nearby. The build-up to the Lazio game will include further initiatives, which will also involve Inter Clubs from all over the Middle East once they arrive in the city: Qatar, Oman, Lebanon and Kuwait are just a few of the countries that will be represented by Nerazzurri fans in Riyadh in the coming days.
