“It feels like only yesterday that we concluded an incredible, unforgettable season for Inter, where we won two more trophies: our eighth Super Cup, once again in Riyadh, and our 20th Scudetto, with a 19-point margin over our nearest rivals. We still have vivid memories of Nerazzurri fans joyfully flooding the streets of Milano, and of a bustling Piazza Duomo adorned in black and blue on that magical night at the end of April
Now, we’re starting out on a new journey together. Our beautiful jersey bears the tricolour badge and the legendary Second Star, which we will proudly wear from this day forward in the knowledge that we have enriched the history, the tradition and the glory of Inter. Simone Inzaghi will be alongside us once again, leading the champions of Italy. And it is with great pleasure that I can today officially announce that the relationship between Simone and Inter will continue until 2026, with the hope that he can stay on even longer.
Over the past three years, our brilliant coach Simone Inzaghi has consolidated his leadership, shaped the team in his image ,and brought a beautiful and modern brand of football to Inter. He has created a group that truly represents the most authentic values of sport, while developing our players and winning wonderful trophies.
Our new owners have inherited our club’s legacy, traditions, sense of belonging and values.
Oaktree, who has already provided its support over the last three years of success, has from the start shown its intention to keep this club at the very top of Italian and European football.
Our majority shareholder has ensured continuity and stability in the running of the club and is focused on Inter being fully competitive on the field, while continuing along the path towards financial sustainability.
The solidity of the new ownership combined with the commitment of this management team is the greatest guarantee for Inter, and for our wonderful fans, and we will continue to reach new heights and obtain more memorable achievements.
As a club, we are aware of the role Inter plays within the football system and the responsibilities we have towards millions of fans. Over the coming season, we must face up to the difficulties that Italian football is currently experiencing, which are even more in the spotlight now.
During this difficult moment in time, it is essential that all parties take a positive approach and really come together as one, pooling resources and ideas. It is important that those able to do so – be it through greater visibility or greater means – take on more responsibility and a leadership role so that we can achieve our shared goals. Football is fuelled by passion and that passion is felt across the board and at all ages. It is perhaps even stronger where love for the sport is still pure. Together, we must ensure that everyone has the right to play sport and to play football, thus turning the Italian Constitution into reality. We must make sure the younger generations bring new lifeblood to the game. That also brings benefits as it enables talent to shine in situations where it otherwise might not get the chance.
The added value of a club like Inter is being able to share its facilities and expertise. As a club, we will continue to do everything we can to recreate positive connections between our world and grassroots sport, education and civil society.
I hope that the recent level of tension reached among the various footballing institutions will be resolved as soon as possible for the benefit of the entire football system. We hope that dialogue will continue in a more constructive way, generating concrete ideas to renew the whole sector. This would allow us to offer a better quality, more modern and competitive product, while safeguarding our players and the future of our sport.
Nowadays, teams face an extremely hectic schedule of fixtures which places the footballers under considerable physical stress. Playing in the biggest international competitions is of course indispensable for the visibility of our brand and a source of great pride for all of our players.
We believe – as we have stated many times before – that Italian football must be rejuvenated and become more appealing to the younger generations, by serving up an increasingly innovative and digital product that can compete with the main players in entertainment.
In a complex context, the longest ever football season is about to start, and will officially begin with Serie A and Coppa Italia in the middle of August. This season will also see the debut of the new 36-team Super Champions League with an additional two matches in the League Phase. We will then head to Saudi Arabia for the Supercoppa Italiana before the season concludes with the new and exciting Club World Cup in July in the United States. Matches will be played throughout the whole 12 months of the year, with nearly 70 games to play for those who reach the end of each competition.
Inter wants to be front-runners in all of these tournaments, aware of our strength and with the goal of prolonging our success of the last few years.
Thanks to the support from the new ownership – with the crucial contributions of Piero Ausilio and Dario Baccin – we have put together an even more competitive team for next season.
The team crowned Champions of Italy will remain virtually unchanged but has been reinforced with valuable additions such as Mehdi Taremi, Piotr Zielinski and Josep Martinez, who will provide us with better solutions and rotation.
We are always careful to seize any opportunities from the market, according to our needs for financial balance, for the containment of labour costs and lowering the average age of the squad. We pay the utmost attention to the development of our young talents, who are very important assets of our Club.
Our Inter is a solid team that boasts a strong winning mentality and group spirit, and that is guided by our leader, Simone.
I would also like to take this opportunity to thank our Vice President Javier Zanetti, who will celebrate 30 years at Inter this coming season, and our CEO Alessandro Antonello, for their hard work and the contribution that the corporate area continues to make to our club.
Our goals for the new season remain the same. The extraordinary achievement of the Second Star – which we proudly wear on our jerseys – is the best starting point for us to face this new and exciting adventure with the same passion and the same hunger for greatness.”
