— Oct 16th 2022El Toro has now scored 62 Inter goals in Serie A, the same figure Milito achieved in a Nerazzurri shirt: "We'll go for dinner together"
A powerful right-footed strike that ended in the net followed by a fantastic celebration and the affection of San Siro. Lautaro not only opened the scoring, he was full of running and produced some excellent pieces of play, building on his impressive display at Camp Nou. El Toro bagged for the fifth time this campaign and, in doing so, netted his 62nd Inter goal in Serie A, thus drawing level with Diego Milito in 13th place in the all-time Nerazzurri goalscoring ranking in the Italian top flight. It's a feat that Lautaro has achieved in 145 appearances, while it took Milito 128 games to reach this figure.
"I know that Diego is in Milan, we'll definitely go for dinner together to celebrate this feat," said Lautaro after the match. "I'm happy because he's a great person who gives me a lot of advice. I work with my head down with the aim of raising my level, and I'm happy with what I've done. I'd like to dedicate this goal to my mum and wife because today is Mother's Day in Argentina."
He then spoke about the match: "We're on the right track. We played really well at Camp Nou, and, even if the competition was different today, our attitude was the same, as could be seen out on the pitch. We've lost some important points in the league and things weren't going the way we wanted them to. Now, we're sorting things out. We've spoken with each other a lot and have got down to work together, and this is important.
"The Coach has helped me a lot and always gives me confidence. When I don't score, I try to help the team. Sometimes, goals don't arrive, but I always try to work hard in order to help my teammates."
Francesco Acerbi was also delighted with the result, with the Italian defender having the following to say after today's win:
"We played well; it was difficult after the Barcelona game. However, our approach was good. We could have scored the second earlier on in the game, but, despite this, we did really well."
He also spoke about his first few months with the Nerazzurri:
"I've settled in really well thanks to everyone, and I'd like to thank my teammates. I immediately felt at ease because I already knew a few of the lads. They welcomed me as if I'd been here for years. I'm still not in peak condition. I feel comfortable playing in the centre of defence and on the left. Mentally, I'm always ready, and this is very important."
