MILAN – Inter made it two wins from two at the start of the new season: after the victory away to Lecce, the Nerazzurri beat Spezia 3-0 at home this evening. Simone Inzaghi couldn’t hide his satisfaction with his team’s performance: Inter dominated proceedings, giving virtually nothing away to their opponents. In the end, they came away with three important points as attentions now turn to Friday’s clash against Lazio.
“It was a really good performance: we were professional and really focused,” said the Nerazzurri Coach. “After a slightly tense start, we did well. We could have been further ahead at half-time. We did well to kill the game off at the start of the second half. All games present difficulties, and we did well both in and out of possession. We knew we’d be up against a team that was doing well and could cause us a few problems.
“The lads prepared well for this game, including when we trained at San Siro on Friday. Everyone was eagerly anticipating a full stadium and the affection of the fans. This evening, there was a wonderful atmosphere, something we continue to encourage with our performances.
“Romelu’s return gives us many more options: I have four great strikers and need to manage them well. Lautaro and Lukaku did very well this evening, and then Dzeko and Correa were excellent after coming on, making an impact. The rule of five substitutions means that 16 players now participate in a game, and not eleven. The five that come on often make a difference; you feel that added energy.
“Barella? We know that he’s an inspirational player; Inter mean so much to him. He did really well, just like all the others did. The three defenders were also fantastic.”
