“It’s a very important win. We should have scored in the first half after so many promising situations. In the second half, we were better off the ball. We had a day and a half to prepare for the game, but the players showed real willingness. I have many experienced players who know how to play these kinds of matches. We allowed them to have a few opportunities and should have done better in the first half, but we were better after the restart. We want to play as many games as possible like we did last season; this is our objective. Playing so often is difficult, but we need to keep going in this direction. Lautaro was fantastic, just like the whole team. In attack, Sanchez did really well for 55 minutes, while Thuram was also excellent. Lautaro has made a fantastic start to the season and it was his turn to rest today, but he’s always scored consistently and needs to continue in this fashion. He’s become our captain and feels increasingly like a leader. He’s always worked well and used his experience. He’s someone who has won a lot of trophies and works well on a daily basis at Appiano.”
