“We don’t like losing, but congratulations to Sassuolo, who made the most of the opening 20 minutes and approached the match better than we did. During the second half, we played with an additional attacker, but, on a technical level, we made mistakes. We wanted to extend our goalscoring run, so we’re very disappointed. We’re not used to losing, but our opponents were excellent. I think we were sloppy but tried to get something from the game until the very end in front of our fantastic fans.
I know that this is a great group that has worked since July to win this Scudetto. I’ve called it the ‘Scudetto of Joy’ because it was what we wanted and we got to celebrate it with our fans.
In the Champions League, we regret the fact we were eliminated because we had our chances against Atletico and could have progressed. There’s a lot of disappointment surrounding the game in Madrid, but credit should also go to our opponents. We reached the final last season and need to look ahead and not back. The aim is to improve. I’m lucky to have excellent directors behind me. Over the last three years, we’ve done some great work together.
Now, we need to perform as best we can in our final three matches. We’ll work to ensure that our approach is better when we face Frosinone on Friday.”
