Matteo Darmian bagged the winner as Inter recorded a narrow victory over Atalanta at San Siro to progress to the Coppa Italia semi-finals. This is what Coach Simone Inzaghi had to say after the game:
"We really wanted to win this match; we won it last year and it's on our shirt. We prepared for the game as best we could. We produced an excellent performance from start to finish against a fantastic side in excellent form and are deservedly in the semi-finals.
"Darmian? He played in that position as part of the back three a few times last year and did well. For a coach, having players who can alternate is a real advantage. He's always made a contribution since I've been here and deserves what he got tonight.
"We know what Acerbi is about. He works ever so hard, but only talking about him would be reductive because everyone did well tonight. Producing performances like this isn't easy. We wanted to reach the semi-finals in front of our home crowd at all costs, and we've managed to bring joy to our fans."
"I liked what I saw from Lukaku. He got better as time went on, but it's clear that he still needs to build up minutes. However, I'm very happy and think he'll get better game by game."
