Inter beat Viktoria Plzen 4-0 this evening to qualify for the Champions League knockouts in front of their own supporters. This is what Coach Simone Inzaghi had to say following this important feat:
"I'm happy for my players, the Club and these magnificent fans. We knew it'd be a very difficult group but we had hope. We wanted to perform really well but then went beyond expectations. These players need to be given a big round of applause. Certainly, I'm satisfied; in order to achieve this feat, we needed to do something special, and this is what we did. We took on Bayern and then played a double-header against Barcelona, which gave us plenty of confidence. We're happy for ourselves, the Club and the supporters, and it's an evening that will stay with us. Calhanoglu? He's a player of quality and substance and is really growing. Given that we're playing every three days, I need everyone. Lukaku returned to the pitch this evening, as did Gagliardini. We'll also try to get Brozovic back involved in the coming days. We've really missed these players; in such an intense period, you need the whole team. Such matches can never be taken for granted, but the team played with real maturity. We couldn't let such an opportunity go to waste. We need to recover lost ground in the league; those at the top aren't slowing down. We've got some important players back, and we'll try to reduce the gap."
