Inter beat Lazio 2-0 in Rome, with Lautaro Martinez opening the scoring at the Stadio Olimpico. After finding the net, the Nerazzurri captain immediately lifted his shirt to display a message of support for his home city, which has been hit by a devastating storm in the past few hours. These were his comments after the match:
“My city, Bahia Blanca, has really suffered in the past few hours due to some awful weather and is enduring a tough time. I was very worried, but it was important to take to the pitch and deliver this message for them. I hope everything gets sorted as soon as possible. As regards my understanding with Thuram, Marcus has made himself available since his arrival and, from the get-go, we’ve done what the Coach has asked of us, implementing his idea of football. We talk to each other a lot, which is important. We’re close friends away from the pitch, which makes things easier when we’re on it. We’ve created a real group here and we’re a family; this makes it easier to achieve our objectives. Inter are getting back to fighting for important goals. At the start of this league season, we’ve also sent a big message to ourselves. We still all need grow in every respect, both the players and the staff, and we have to fight together to win all that we can. Being a father really helps me, and it’s also allowed me to improve on the pitch. We need to always focus on ourselves, even if we’re aware that our nearest challengers are high-quality sides. Therefore, we must remain focused. ”

Marcus Thuram also produced a fine performance, with the Frenchman making it 2-0 after the restart. This is what he had to say after the match:
“We played well today. I try to do my best and am happy when I score, but the vital thing is to win. I like Barella a lot and finishing off an assist from him is really pleasing. We’re a united group and care for each other like brothers. I feel like an Inter player and want to help the team wherever I am on the pitch. We’ve already faced Bologna, who are a very strong and well-coached side. Without the support of my father, my family and my friends, I wouldn’t be where I am now.”
