— Jan 14th 2023Lautaro, Bastoni and Gagliardini all commented on the 1-0 win over Hellas Verona
Lautaro Martinez's goal inside three minutes, his ninth in the league, secured victory a 1-0 win over Hellas Verona on matchday 18 in Serie A. It was another massive goal for his side, and afterwards he gave his reacton.
“We knew we had to work very hard for the win. Verona play man to man across the pitch, hit it long towards the keeper and force you to play it long. There aren't many teams who play like this in the league. They tried to play it long at every opportunity to their centre-forward, and it was a game where we had to dig in and play with great patience and humility. We had the right attitude throughout; we prepared well for the game, started off perfectly with the goal and did well for the whole 94 minutes. We must always leave everything out on the pitch and give 100%. Attentions now turn to the Supercoppa, which is massively important. We're a big Club, and must have the habit of winning things, playing finals, and aiming to win trophies. We have the quality, and the history of the club forces you to win. We'll rest up and prepare as best we can to bring back the Supercoppa to Milan.”
Lautaro Martinez
Playing the full 90 minutes, Alessandro Bastoni and Roberto Gagliardini, had this to say about the win at San Siro.
“We're happy to have kept a clean sheet, we did well tonight. We knew that Verona wouldn't give us time to play a lot, but we dug deep, fought hard and were very solid. We give 100% in every game. We did well to limit Djuric and his striking partners. Now we play the Supercoppa, which is going to be a really tough match, but we want to win it.”
Alessandro Bastoni
“Being ready is part of the job, I'm just happy to have got some minutes under my belt and contributed to the win. We know Verona well, and they play man to man marking, which puts you under a lot of pressure. We did well to score early on, and maybe we lacked a bit of sharpness in possession, which would've allowed us to get beyond the press. But we stayed solid and secured the three points. ”
