“The boys were fantastic. I was very satisfied and congratulated them. Udinese had collected 10 points and they were not an easy opponent, and we knew that. We had a great first half but the only downside was not scoring one more goal. We conceded a goal from a rebound where we needed to clear the area better and we know this. However, we did well and didn’t lose our concentration.
In the second half, we started well just like in the first. Overall, we could have scored more given the chances we created. Sommer didn’t have to make a single save. Udinese entered the area twice and found the net both times. We shouldn’t have been 1-0 with the equalizing situation: we created opportunities that a great team like us should have finished off.
I knew what to expect today. The boys’ eyes during the week were clear. We came from a delicate week but we had worked well and the fans supported us from start to finish.
This Serie A is difficult and we must always be very careful. We need to grow and be better at occupying space to avoid conceding goals from the few chances we face. However, I am very satisfied with how the boys performed. I knew they would have a great reaction.
Lautaro is our captain. He shouldn’t get down because he has always worked hard. Today, he was excellent and I am happy for him but especially for the team. Sometimes, we rise stronger from defeats. Dimarco had an excellent 65 minutes, the entire bench was always alert and everyone wanted this victory.
