LENS – After starting against Lens, Tucu Correa stayed on the pitch for an hour before being substituted. It allowed the Argentine to get more pre-season minutes under his belt, as he underlined in his interview with Inter TV: “I’ve played a lot; this is important at the start of the season because we all need to get into the best shape possible. We’re training hard, but they were fresher than us today and this made the difference. We’ve still got a lot of work to do to be at our best. This result will help us as we look to carry on pushing forward and improve.”
The players are feeling the effects of the workload of the past few weeks: “We’re still not in the best physical shape; we’re putting in the hard work and our legs are feeling slightly heavy, but this is normal. The Coach told us that we need to keep going down this path. We want to feel fresher heading into our next couple of matches so that we can be in the best possible condition come the start of the league season.”
Finally, Lukaku’s arrival has increased the Nerazzurri’s options in attack: “Lukaku and I are always looking to pick each other out and we’re trying out a few things. Today, it didn’t come off for us, but we’ll have plenty of opportunities to improve in training.”
