Inter beat Verona 2-1 following a dramatic match that finished in truly chaotic fashion: Frattesi made it 2-1 in the 93rd minute, but the match continued and Verona were awarded a penalty. Incredibly, Henry stepped up and hit the post.
The Nerazzurri had taken the lead in the twelfth minute through Lautaro Martinez, who slotted past Montipò following Mkhitaryan’s assist. Inter were in control, but Verona certainly weren’t out of it and equalised in the 74th minute through Henry, who had just entered the fray.
Then came the closing stages. Inter laid siege and missed a couple of huge opportunities before netting in the 93rd minute: after Bastoni had hit the bar with his left foot, the goalkeeper saved Barella’s right-footed strike and Frattesi converted on the follow-up. Incredible celebrations, but the match was far from over.
Lazovic was sent off for the visitors, who, however, found the strength to push forward. In the 100th minute, after a VAR check, the referee pointed to the spot following a foul by Darmian. Henry sent Sommer the wrong way but hit the post. Amidst all the tension and chaos, it finished 2-1.
