The first international break of the league season, which saw friendlies and UEFA Nations League matches, has come to an end. Inter are preparing to return to the pitch on Saturday 1 October at 18:00 CEST against Roma at San Siro.
There were 15 Nerazzurri on the pitch with their national sides, with a total of 1,609 minutes played between them: Acerbi, Barella, Bastoni, Brozović, De Vrij, Dimarco and Dumfries topped their respective Nations League A groups, qualifying with Italy, Croatia and the Netherlands for the Final Four of the competition. Džeko's Bosnia won Group 3 of League B, moving up to League A. Gosens' Germany, Asllani's Albania and Škriniar's Slovakia finished third in their respective groups, and there were international friendlies for Lautaro, Correa, Onana and Bellanova.
Federico Dimarco (179 total minutes), Nicolò Barella (153), Francesco Acerbi (135), and Alessandro Bastoni (45) played in Italy's two victories against England and Hungary. In the match in Budapest, the match that determined the winner of the group and qualification to the Final Four of the Nations League, Dimarco left his mark in a 2-0 win for the Azzurri, scoring his first goal in the Italian shirt, the 1,500th in the history of the national team.
In the same group as Italy, Germany's Robin Gosens finished third. The left midfielder, unused in the defeat against Hungary, played 22 minutes in the spectacular 3-3 draw against England at Wembley.
The Netherlands, with Denzel Dumfries and Stefan De Vrij, also qualified for the final stage of the competition. In League B, Edin Džeko's Bosnia-Herzegovina (109 total minutes) won Group 3, meaning a move up to League A. The Nerazzurri striker starred in the decisive 1-0 win over Montenegro, in which he provided the assist for Demirovic's goal. In the defeat at home to Romania, Džeko scored the only goal for his national team.
It was a third place finish in Group 2 of League B for Albania's Kristjan Asllani, who started in the 2-1 defeat against Israel, in which he played for 67 minutes.
It was the same result for Milan Škriniar's Slovakia in Group 3 of League C: the defender, and captain of his national team, played full minutes in the defeat against Azerbaijan and the draw with Belarus.
As for the friendlies, Lautaro Martínez and Joaquín Correa's Argentina won 3-0 against both Honduras and Jamaica: Il Toro, a starter in both matches, played 101 minutes in total, scoring against the Central Americans and providing an assist against the Caribbean side. Correa got 11 minutes on the pitch against Jamaica.
André Onana and Raoul Bellanova complete the full round-up: the goalkeeper played every minute with Cameroon in the matches against Uzbekistan and South Korea, while the right-back played a total of 113 minutes in the matches against England and Japan.
