Farris: "We lacked energy but are looking to the future with confidence"

A game of two halves against Parma at the Tardini. The Nerazzurri created plenty of chances in the first half and took a two-goal lead into the break thanks to Darmian and Thuram's finishes, but the Gialloblu then mounted a second-half comeback.
After the game, a slightly disappointed Massimilano Farris, who stepped in for the suspended Simone Inzaghi today, gave his thoughts:
“We need to analyse the match. We were in control in the first half, but we allowed two goalscoring chances when our concentration levels dropped. We created situations, played well and scored two goals. As for our energy levels - more mental than physical - it's not always possible to play matches with the same consistency for the full 90 minutes. We’re playing a lot of games, and we were coming off Wednesday’s intense derby. After conceding a second goal, we went back on the attack with real heart, even if we did so a bit chaotically and Parma had a big chance at the end. The matches we’ve played are weighing on the players’ legs. We prepare one game at a time, but there are moments when some players feel the effects. We try to protect them because avoiding injuries at this stage is crucial. The team seemed to be in control, and it wasn’t the substitutions that changed the game: it was Parma, who grew into it a lot. We shouldn’t have allowed them to find the spark that led to them getting back into it. At this point in the season, it’s not easy for anyone to maintain consistency for 90 minutes. In the past, we’ve paid the price at the start of the second half, so our message at half-time was to come out strong after the break. In the first ten minutes, nothing really happened, but we needed to handle key moments in the box better. There’s room for improvement, but one of this team’s biggest strengths is its ability to stay focused and take it one match at a time. The result is disappointing, but we’ll get back on track. As for Bastoni, it doesn’t seem to be anything concerning, but we needed to make the substitution. We didn’t lose, so we’ll put this draw behind us with a touch of disappointment but also with plenty of confidence for what’s ahead. Now, we turn our attentions to Bayern Munich because we’ve earned the right to play at this stage of the Champions League.”
