Tajon Buchanan has joined Inter. The Canadian wide-man, born in 1999, has arrived from Club Brugge. Here is his first interview with Inter TV:
Welcome to the Club, Tajon! Tell us about your choice to join Inter. “I think that it was the right decision for me at this point in my career. I’ve followed Inter for a while; I see myself playing in this team. I’m really excited for what’s to come.”
Inter are top of the league; what can you bring to the team and what are your objectives? “I want to take it day by day, working hard. I want to settle in as quickly as possible and learn as much as possible from the coach, the staff and the guys that have been here for a while. I want to learn and help the team.”
You’re a versatile player that can operate in various positions and adapt to different play styles. Is this something, in your opinion, that will make you a good option for Simone Inzaghi? “Yes, I’m a versatile player. I can play in a number of roles but my aim is just to learn as much as possible, make myself available for the team and adapt to a new style of play.”
As well as being versatile, you’re very fast, one of the quickest players in the Champions League last season. How you would describe yourself? "I’m a really direct player and I like to go one on one with the defender and operate in the half spaces around the opposition penalty area, creating numerical superiority. I played at right-back last season, I can definitely improve in the defensive phase."
You will be the first Canadian to play in Serie A: how ready are you for this new league? “I’m really proud to be the first Canadian in the Italian league. It’s a big achievement that makes me really proud. I know what to expect, so I need to learn as much as I can from the coach and staff so that I’m ready.”
Inter fans create a great atmosphere: what sort of welcome are you expecting and how excited are you for your debut at San Siro? “Honestly, I don’t know what to expect because I’ve never experienced anything like this before in my life. Watching on TV, you can see that the support is amazing, with incredible fans who fill the stadium for every game. I can’t wait to show them what I can do and help the team as much as I can."
