Roberto Baggio turns 57 today. The former Inter forward made 59 appearances in two seasons with the Club. He was one of the brightest talents in world football. On his birthday, we want to reminisce about his time at Inter with five fun facts
BALLON D'OR
In 1993, he won the Ballon d'Or. He was one of the players that turned out for the Nerazzurri and won the prestigious France Football prize either before or after his spell at Inter.
THREE ASSISTS AND A GOAL ON DEBUT
It was 12 August 1998. Inter hosted Skonto Riga at San Siro in the second round of Champions League qualifying. Roberto Baggio scored on debut in our 4-0 win that day, and assisted the other three. What a way to mark his first appearance.
BRACE AGAINST REAL MADRID
Two of his most important goals for us came in the Champions League against Real Madrid in 1998/99. On matchday five of the group stage, he came on in the second half and made it 3-1 to secure Inter's progression to the quarter-final stage.
CHAMPIONS LEAGUE PLAY-OFF
He became an Inter icon with the brace he scored in the play-off against Parma in 1999/2000, which decided Champions League qualification.
17 GOALS FOR INTER
Baggio bagged 17 goals in his two seasons with the Nerazzurri. As well as the aforementioned braces, the supporters have fond memories of that stunning finish against Roma.
