BERGAMO - His 200th match in Serie A in an Inter shirt could have been topped off with a crucial goal because in the 90th minute of the match against Atalanta, Danilo D'Ambrosio had the chance to snatch victory. The three points weren’t to be, but it's an important draw nevertheless in the context of the Nerazzurri's season.
D'Ambrosio reflected on what might have been after the game in Bergamo: "I went for the near post and I could see the keeper coming out. It’s a shame I didn't put it in the back of the net.
"It was a pretty even encounter despite Atalanta having a few players out. They played their usual game and they’re a team with a very strong identity. We always want to win when we cross the white line, no matter who we’re playing, but you’ve got to deal with your opponents. I think it’s a point gained. They played very well so I think it’s a fair result."
On reaching the milestone of 200 games: "I'm proud of it, but you always want to aim high and try to improve. Come the end of your career you want to talk about the amount of trophies you won, not the amount of games you played. I want to try and win more."
Up next is a Coppa Italia tie against Empoli: "It’s a game we shouldn’t underestimate. It’s a one-off match and Empoli are having a great season. We want to make it to the final too."
