— Jun 11th 2022Three draws and two wins for the Inter players in action in the Nations League on Saturday evening
There were plenty of intriguing fixtures across Europe on Saturday, with five Nerazzurri in Nations League action. Hakan Calhanoglu’s Turkey won, while there were stalemates for Italy, Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Netherlands, with Denzel Dumfries getting on the scoresheet.
The clash behind closed doors between England and Italy at Molineux in Wolverhampton on matchday 3 in group 3 of league A in the Nations League ended goalless. It was a special evening for Federico Dimarco, who was the only Inter player selected. The defender made his maiden start for the Azzurri, who are now on five points and top of the pile in group 3 of league A.
Calhanoglu’s Turkey keep winning, building on the 4-0 success over the Faroe Islands and the 6-0 thumping of Lithuania with a 2-0 triumph against Luxembourg. The Inter midfielder opened the scoring and wore the captain’s armband until he was withdrawn on 68 minutes. Turkey have maximum points in group 1 of league C.
Two Inter stars were involved in the 2-2 draw between the Netherlands and Poland. Matty Cash and Piotr Zielinski fired the visitors into a two-goal lead at the De Kuip in Rotterdam, only for Davy Klassen and Dumfries to draw the Dutch level with quickfire goals. Denzel added to his scoring tally from the 4-1 victory over Belgium on 3 June. The wing-back and Stefan de Vrij both played the full 90 minutes. The Netherlands are top of group 4 in league A on seven points.
Edin Dzeko played 78 minutes of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s 1-1 draw with Montenegro. With five points on the board, Dzeko’s side sit on top of group 3 in league B in the Nations League.
Matias Vecino featured for 62 minutes as Uruguay romped to a 5-0 success over Panama.
