MILAN – Federico Dimarco hailed the incredible atmosphere created by the fans at the Meazza on Saturday evening as the Nerazzurri triumphed 2-0 against Hellas Verona.
The Italian full-back produced a performance befitting of the occasion – drawing applause from the crowd as early as the fourth minute when he carried the ball almost the entire length of the pitch. He then laid on numerous chances for his team-mates and it was his corner that Ivan Perisic flicked on for Edin Dzeko to notch Inter's second of the night.
Speaking after the final whistle, Dimarco said: "We went into this one with a different approach to our previous games. We really got at them right from off.
“Winning today after last week's result at Juventus is massive. Not many teams win in Turin and to do it after the international break the way we did was a huge win.
“There was an amazing atmosphere at the San Siro tonight and it felt brilliant to win out there.
“When you've got 60,000 fans egging you on, it helps you play even better.”
The Verona match was Inter's 14th clean sheet of the season.
“It's always good when you don't concede. We have to try and keep it up, keep working away and taking each game as it comes,” he concluded.
