Numbers, points of interest and statistics on the clash scheduled for Sunday at 15:00 CET

MILAN - On Sunday at 15:00 CET the 108th Serie A game between Inter and Genoa will be played at San Siro. The two teams that currently occupy first and eleventh place in the table are also the two teams who have suffered the least defeats in the last ten league games (one).

PREVIOUS GAMES

Of the last 107 Serie A games between Inter and Genoa, the Nerazzuri command a firm lead with 56 victories, 29 draws and 22 defeats.                                                                                                                           Inter have lost only one of the last 33 Serie A home games against Genoa (losing 3-1 in March 1994) - they have 25 wins under their belt and seven draws. The Nerazzurri have scored in all of their last ten league home games against Genoa (with 29 goals), and have kept a clean sheet in the last five games: in the history of the Serie A, no team has won six matches in a row against a single opponent without conceding (Inter also won five in a row without conceding against Atalanta in 1953).

Inter have won the last seven Serie A home games against Genoa: between May 1956 and February 1965 they won eight home games in a row against the Ligurians.

CURRENT FORM

Conte's side are top of the table with 53 points, going four points clear of AC Milan after their victory in the #DerbyMilano. The Nerazzurri have scored 57 goals, making them the best attack in the league: after 23 matches in a Serie A season, they have only scored more at two points in history: in 1949-50 with 65 goals, and in 1950-51 with 60.  Having conceded 24 goals, Inter can boast the second-best defence in the league.

Inter have won their last eight home games in Serie A: in the last ten seasons, only Juventus (having done it four times) and Roma (in the 2016-17 season) have managed to get at least nine consecutive home wins in a single season.

Only Montpellier (12) have scored more headers than Inter (11) in the five major European leagues this year, while only Villarreal (one) have scored less than Genoa (two).

Genoa are eleventh in the league with 26 points: the Rossoblu have moved up a gear after Ballardini's return to the dugout: since his arrival, the Ligurians have only lost one Serie A game (5 victories, 4 draws), the same as Inter (7 victories, 2 draws): in the same time period, no other team has suffered fewer defeats.

Genoa have conceded 33 goals so far in the league. In the calendar year of 2021, no other team has conceded less in Serie A (six goals in nine matches, the same as Juventus).

A LOOK AT THE PLAYERS

The last time Inter didn't have a pair of players with at least 30 goals between them after the first 23 Serie A games (Romelu Lukaku, 17, Lautaro Martinez, 13) was in 1958-59: back then, the two in question were Antonio Angelillo and Edwin Firmani with 41 goals, 27 and 14 respectively.

Lautaro Martinez has had a part to play in 17 goals in the league so far (13 goals, four assists), the same number as all of last season - Genoa is one of the eight Serie A teams who the Inter attacker is yet to score against.

Andrea Ranocchia, Ionut Radu and Andrea Pinamonti are all former Genoa players, whereas Mattia Destro once played for the Nerazzurri, and with nine goals so far this season, he could be on track to reach double figures for the first time since the 2016-17 season when he was at Bologna. Goran Pandev is another former Inter player from a while back: the Macedonian attacker became the player with most appearances from the bench in Serie A in the three points for a victory era with 155, superseding Sergio Pellissier's 154, after Genoa's recent game against Verona.
