Lautaro Martinez's star continues to shine bright in South America as he earned Argentina another three points in World Cup qualifying with the match-winning goal against Peru.
Joaquin Correa, Arturo Vidal, Alexis Sanchez and Matias Vecino also featured for their respective national sides on Thursday night.
Lautaro struck just before half time at the Estadio Monumental in Lima, displaying lightning pace to beat his marker to Nahuel Molina's near-post delivery and head home. The hosts missed a second-half penalty as Lionel Messi and Co. held on for a 1-0 win, which keeps them firmly in second place in CONMEBOL qualifying. Lautaro made way for Correa in the 85th minute.
Elsewhere Vidal and Sanchez both played 90 minutes for Chile as they saw off Venezuela 3-0. Alexis provided the cross from the corner flag for the first two goals (both headers by Erick Pulgar). Ben Brereton added the third in the second half.
Vecino's l'Uruguay meanwhile were beaten 4-1 by Brazil. Neymar and Raphinha gave the hosts a 3-0 lead, Luis Suarez reduced the arrears then Gabriel Barbosa notched the fourth. Matias played 65 minutes.
